Journey Together, the set

Journey Together (SV09) is the ninth mainline Scarlet & Violet expansion, released in English in March 2026 after two weeks of prerelease events. Its Japanese base set was Battle Partners, and its defining feature is the return of "Owner's Pokémon" — Pokémon paired on the card with a specific Trainer, a mechanic that first appeared in the Gym Heroes set back in 2000 and had not resurfaced in over two decades. The set is built around four featured Trainers — Lillie, N, Hop and Iono — each paired with a signature Pokémon ex: N's Zoroark ex, Iono's Bellibolt ex, Lillie's Clefairy ex and Hop's Zacian ex among them.

A mechanic revival like this one tends to pull differently than a brand-new gimmick: it draws collectors who stepped away from the game years ago back in for one specific card, which is a different kind of demand than a set chasing current competitive relevance.

Journey Together ships in an unusually wide spread of retail formats: standard booster box, sleeved single boosters, checklane blisters, a premium checklane, three-pack blisters, and an Elite Trainer Box. The practical difference between them is pull volume per unit spent — a booster box gives the full, disclosed pack count in one sealed unit; a checklane or three-pack blister is the cheapest way to try the set or chase one specific pull without committing to box price.

As with any set built around a mechanic revival, early allocation is harder to predict than for a routine mainline release — demand comes partly from current players and partly from returning ones, and distributors size print runs against the former more reliably than the latter.
